I don’t like to brag or boast and I am a frequent visitor to the “Yeah, but…” territory that Fitness Junkie speaks of (you know – someone says “You’re doing great!” and you say “Yeah, but I have so much farther to go…”)

BUT

this as of morning I have officially lost 10.8 pounds!!!!!

YAY ME!!! Time for my first reward – although seeing that number on the scale this morning was a HUGE REWARD!!

More in a bit – I have to get the kids out the door!!

New Challenges – and Progress!

This week I am heading out to a conference.  I am taking a few steps to make sure I can maintain my healthy lifestyle while I am there:

1. I emailed everyone I know who is going and told them to BRING WORKOUT CLOTHES!  We have access to a local gym and it’s always more fun to work out with friends!

2. I brought my own breakfast stuff – I brought english muffins, fruit, peanut butter, and we’ll stop and I will get some milk.  I even remembered utensils and cutting board and knife! In retrospect, it might have been easier to get some fruit cups, but this will work!  I WILL NOT EAT the continental breakfast – all those carbs! ARGH!

3. I am resolved to stay away from 2 things at the conference provided lunches – bread and dessert!

Candi suggested that I focus my blogging on challenges and solutions for eating healthy away from home – so that’s what I will be thinking about as I go through my week.

My weight hasn’t dropped as dramatically as I had hoped…but I recounted my progress in healthier living…

1. NO FAST FOOD

2. Very little fried food

3. No sweets

4. VERY LITTLE Diet Coke

5. Whole wheat

6. Fruits! Veggies!

7. Very few sweets (just my treat and I skipped my treat for last week! :) )

8. Exercise – more than ever!

Progress is a good thing – and the results will catch up with the effort at some point!!

Sunday is the Day I Get My Booty Kicked

Jeff and I walked SIX MILES! SIX MILES!!!!

I am so proud of me! He runs marathons, so this was not such a big deal for him, but for me it was a BREAKTHROUGH. 4 miles was my record. WOOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!!

Breakfast: The usual, although I did use plain non-fat yogurt, 1 tsp honey, 1/2 tsp vanilla, and I added a nectarine and it was not as sweet as the high-fructose corn syrup yogurt , but it was totally healthy and I knew what was in it, because I made it!

Lunch – Leftover whole wheat pasta primavera and cheese

Dinner – Japanese – Salad, Shrimp and Broccoli, extra veggies, NO RICE! :)

I do need to get better about menu planning.  The weekends are especially hard for some reason.

Fighting the Urge

Today.

Well. What can I say except I DID IT!!

What? Well, I resisted the urge to use food to comfort me!

My boss called me into his office right around lunchtime and informed me that I would have a new supervisor.  This is the latest in a long string of undesirable changes, and it was really not something I was prepared to deal with.

So my first reaction was to head over to Zaxby’s and get myself a chicken finger plate or Wings ‘n’ Things, and fried mushrooms AND a diet coke.

But I wasn’t willing to allow stress to win – not this time, SUCKA!

So I went to the market and stayed in the produce section and bought some fruits and veggies.  And THEN I went to Zaxby’s.  And I got a grilled chicken salad. And I went back to my office and I ate it and it was GOOD and I had no reason to feel guilty afterwards!!

Breakfast: English muffin, egg, yogurt and peach. And water

Snack – protein bar,  water

Lunch – Zalad and Diet Coke (ok I broke down a little)

No afternoon snack

Dinner – roast beef sandwich, water.  NO CHIPS OR OTHER UNHEALTHY SIDES!

Snack – Cottage cheese, nectarine

I resisted the siren call of cookies. I am very impressed with me. And since I am feeling better, back to working out tomorrow!!
